Pressure measuring device for hot tool butt welding machines

Pressure is measured during heated tool butt welding e.g. of thermoplastic pipes, with a pressure measuring device having a mounting plate (9) on which pressure sensors (10) are fastened, being positioned between peripheral surfaces of the mounting plate and a clamping plate (6). The mounting plate is connected to hydraulic cylinders (8) and moves with them on guide rods (7,8) in the longitudinal direction. When the clamping plate moves the joint faces of the pipes (3,5) into contact, the pressure indicates is identical to the pressure at the joint faces. Joining pressure is measured continuously during the process and indicated or plotted.
