VACUUM SEWER SYSTEM

A vacuum sewer system and a method of operating such system is disclosed. The system includes a sewage holding tank (16A-D) and a lateral flow line (24A-D) and a vacuum valve (18A-D) associated with the holding tank (16A-D) for permitting a quantity of wastewater to be drawn out of the holding tank (16A-D) by a vacuum environment. The wastewater is drawn through the lateral flow line (24A-D) and a main pipeline (30) to a desired collection location (38). A plurality of air inlet valves (32A-H) are arranged at spaced locations along the main pipeline (30) for facilitating the flow of wastewater through the lateral flow line (24A-D) so that a large volume of the wastewater can flow through the lateral flow line (24A-D) in a given time.
