The boring head (10) is fixed to the end of the tube (1). There is a non-sliding component (2) at the end of the tube, supporting the bottom end of an expanding foot (3) enclosing the tube. A further fixing component (4) supports the top end of the foot, and there are one or more openings (5) in the tube between the fixing components when the foot is unexpanded. Expansion is caused by delivering material through the opening from the interior of the tube into the space (8) between the tube and foot.
