A coating (4) of carbon, preferably graphite, is first applied to the SiC surface (3). Said carbon coating (4) is then converted into a metal carbide coating (7) with a carbide-forming metal (Me). The SiC-metal carbide contact thus produced forms in particular a virtually perfect Schottky contact.
