The storage device is provided between a transport drive (3) for feeding a pair of parallel recording webs (4,5) through a printing station (2) and a friction drive (8/1,8/2) for transporting the webs through a fixing station. The device is provided by a web loop obtained via a deflection element (25) acting on each of the webs, which is pivoted about an axis under control of a deflection spring (13), coupled to a tensioning device (32)for adjusting the spring tension.
