A method for making an easy-open lid (1) by forming a score between a punch and an anvil. To reduce the likelihood of cracks developing at the bottom of or underneath the score, said score (2) is formed using any means that cause an asymmetrical flow of the metal compressed between the punch (13) and the anvil (21).
