The rear end face of the cutting plate is formed as an arc, the curvature of which has a radius which is equal to or is larger than that of the plate support face. The end face of the plate which points to the rear is pressed against the plate support face during fixing of the plate in the end mill body. The end of the end mill body may additionally have at least one slot which, in contact with the cut-out of the plate support face, extends in the direction of the chucking end of the end mill body.
