1284036 Checking credit cards; cash dispensers OMRON TATEISI ELECTRONICS CO 9 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 43183/70 Heading G4T and G4X A card 10 presented to the credit card system is conveyed to card reader 12, and an identification number written thereon is read and stored in register 13; the numbers of invalidated cards, for example those lost or stolen, are stored in recorder 15 and are collated with the number in register 13 by collating circuit 16; if the card is found to be invalid it is treated so that it cannot be properly used again, by for example completely erasing the identification number from the card or collecting the card into the system; the number of that invalid card is stored in recorder 18, which may comprise a tape punch or a computer, and that number may then be removed from the invalid card numbers in recorder 15 either manually or automatically by remover 20. In this way the necessary storage capacity of recorder 15 is reduced. If the card is valid cash dispenser 17, for example, may be operated. |
