The invention pertains to ferrous metallurgy, specifically, to the production of ingots for conversion to steel by smelting. The ingot is solidified pig iron containing iron ore nodules, the iron content of the pig iron in nodule form being 7.5-15.0 wt.%, and zones of reduced carbon content. The surface of the ingot is solid pig iron. The process for obtaining the ingot involves pouring a specified quantity, using a calibrating dispenser (5), into communicating moulds (2) arranged on an inclined conveyor (1), the finer iron ore nodules (up to 5.0 mm) being poured first, then the coarser nodules (up to 25.00 mm); the molten pig iron is then poured from one mould (2) into another against the direction of the conveyor and from the pouring spout (10) in the direction of movement of the moulds (2); the moulds (2) undergo rapid cooling from the bottom up from the moment they are filled with nodules until the onset of solidification of the pig iron where it is in contact with the mould (2), and the moulds are then cooled from the top down on the end section of the inclined conveyor (1) before the ingots are removed.
|
