Electric vehicle with duplicate battery having secondary top-up source

An electrically powered vehicle having duplicate traction batteries (B1B2) recharged by conventional mains-powered apparatus is equipped with a master controller (R) which regulates the main traction motor (AE) energised by either or both batteries (B1B2) via the connections (4.14.23.1). The wheel/axle generators (G1 to G4) supply the motor-generator set (EM,LM) whose output is routed to the controller (R) via the connection (3.2) and applied as a secondary source for battery top-up. An additional system refinement uses the energy door, eloped during braking as a result of eddy current retarders to further augment battery top-up.
