A tensioning device for traction pinions has a tensioning roller rotatively mounted on the outer surface of a working eccentric. The object of the invention is to create a clamping device that is more safe in operation, has smaller components and reduced production costs. For that purpose, the working eccentric (12) is directly mounted on a bearing bolt (18) and the coefficient of friction in the contact area (17) between the working eccentric (12) and the bearing bolt (18) is reduced by an appropriate choice of materials or by a surface treatment.
