Drum unit for electrolytic treatment of small pourable products

The method concerns electrolytic surface treatment of pourable small prods. in a rotating drum (2). The stationary anodes in the bath are periodically supplemented by an additional mobile top anode (1). The anode and the charge (9) of pourable prod. in the drum form a pair of electrodes with opposite polarity and spatially fixed configuration relative to one another. The top anode (1) is an anode which is not soluble in the electrolyte used. Alternatively, the anode consists of a mixt. of soluble and insoluble metal components. Dependent on the electrolyte, such an anode is either fully immersed for given periods, or it remains above the electrolyte level. An appts. for implementation of the proposed method is characterised by the presence of a top anode (1) above the drum (2). The anode is pref. fixed to the carrier arms (4). The top anode (1) and the drum (2) are integrated parts of a drum unit. The bottom half of the drum is surrounded by a semicylindrical stationary anode in the electrolyte bath. This stationary anode is positioned so that its surface is as equidistant as possible relative to the charge (9) in the drum. A trolley is provided for transporting the drum unit form the treatment station into a chamber for prod. cleaning, loading and other purposes.
