<p>This invention is a dual valve detachable occlusion balloon (12) for use in artificial vessel embolization for using a delivery catheter (11) adapted to receive a fluid for inflating the balloon (12). The balloon (12) comprises a cylindrical body (61) of an elastomeric material having first (62) and second (63) open ends and a bore (64) extending between the first (62) and second (63) open ends. A first valve (66) is mounted in the first end (62) of the cylindrical body (61). A second valve (67) is mounted in the second end (63) of the cylindrical body (61). The first (66) and second (67) valves face in opposite directions in the bore (64). The first (66) and second (67) valves are formed to permit movement to an open position to permit the delivery catheter (11) to be inserted therethrough with the balloon inflation orifice (33) being disposed in the bore (64) between the first (66) and second (67) valves so that fluid introduced into the bore (64) through the delivery catheter (11) to inflate the balloon (12) cannot escape.</p> |
