In a cathode ray tube having a curved phosphor screen, a shadow mask having bored therein apertures and electron beam generating means for generating three in-line electron beams aligned in a horizontal direction, the apertures of the shadow mask are aligned along barrel-shaped lines extending in a horizontal direction and are aligned along pin-cushioned lines extending in a vertical direction and the diameter distribution of the apertures is arranged so that the distribution of the electron beam transmission factor of the mask is concentric about the center of the mask.
