The ore is crushed and leached in a Cl ion contg. acid medium. The resultant Zn chloride contg. soln. is purified by adsorption on an anionic or neutral ion exchanger followed by elution of this ion exchanger. The Zn chloride contg. eluate is then subjected to electrolysis using a Hg cathode, the electrolysis being repeated using a Hg anode. Zn is extracted from the amalgam in known manner. The Zn-free soln. after the ion exchange treatment is recycled. The Cl2 gas produced during the electrolysis is combined with H2S produced in the leaching process, and the resulting HCl recycled for leaching the ore.
|
