<p>The teat consists of a body (3) which is basically hemispherical in shape and has an axially-projecting tip at the top in the form of a nipple (5) contg. an elastomer or metal coil spring which limits its radial compression and allows the feed to be drawn out only by suction, and not by compression. The spring is embedded in the wall (7) of the nipple. The open end of the teat has a shaped edge (15) for attaching and sealing it to a feeding bottle, and both the body of the teat and the nipple are made in one piece from an elastomer material such as natural latex or a silicone prod. In addn., the body of the teat can be surrounded by a hemispherical cover, also of an elastomer material, which simulates a mother's breast.</p> |
