PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder having a device for tensioning a plate capable of pulling an end section of a plate of which edge is bent into a slit having a narrow width which is provided on an outer circumferential face of the cylinder. SOLUTION: A plurality of tongue pieces 26 are fixed to a rotary lever 18 and each of the tongue pieces is disposed such that it is movable in an inner section of a slit 7 in a direction from a start end section 10 of the slit to an inner section 5 of a cylinder 1 and vice versa. Each of the tongue pieces comprises one hook 27 which is engaged with a hole 11 of at least one end section 3 of a plate 2 of which edge is bent.
