PURPOSE: To obtain a herbicide containing decreased amount of active compo nent, applicable at an arbitrary stage from the pre-emergence stage of weeds before transplantation to the growing stage of the weeds and capable of control ling the weeds over a long period by using a new furobenzopyran derivative in combination with a sulfonylurea derivative. CONSTITUTION: This herbicide composition for paddy field contains at least one kind of furobenzopyran derivative of formula I [R1 is an alkyl; R2 is an alkyl, an alkoxy, etc.; R3 is an alkyl, an alkoxy, benzyloxy, etc.; R4 is H or an alkyl; R5 is cyano, nitro, phenyl, etc.; (m) is 0-4; (n) is 0-2; (p) is 1-3] in combination with at least one kind of compound selected from sulfonylurea derivatives such as methyl 2-[3-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)ureidosulfonylmethyl]benzoate. The new compound of formula I can be produced by the intramolecular cyclization reaction of a tetrahydrofuran derivative of formula II. The composition is preferably applied by flooded soil treatment at a rate of 0.01-5kg/ha. |
