<p>PURPOSE: To ensure safety without giving uneasiness to a driver even when abnormality is caused in a torque sensor during high-speed travel, by judging the abnormality of the torque sensor based on a given threshold characteristic in accordance with the detected value of the torque sensor in relating to a vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION: A signal controller 1 gives an electric motor driving signal to a power controller 2 based on respective detection signals from the torque sensor 6 of a handle 10, a steering angle sensor 5, a vehicle speed sensor 4, and an encoder 9. A power controller 2 adjusts a supply current to an electric motor 7 from an on-vehicle battery 3 in accordance with the electric motor drive signal. At this time, the controller 1 reads a vehicle speed from the sensor 4 to read both upper and lower limit threshold values in accordance with the vehicle speed from a map, and also compares these values and output voltage from the sensor 6. Consequently, the abnormality of the sensor 6 can be judged when the output voltage is out of the range of both the upper and lower threshold values.</p> |
