PURPOSE: To provide a barrier material with excellent transparency which can keep low oxygen permeability and steam permeability even in the case of a deposited film provided with a vapor deposition layer consisting of an inorg. compd. with a thickness being at most a specified value. CONSTITUTION: This barrier material 1 is prepd. by proving on a base material 2 a coating layer 4 consisting of a water-soluble polymer and a metal alkoxide or its hydrolyzate on the deposit face of a deposit film wherein a vapor deposition layer 3 consisting of an inorg. compd. with a thickness of 100-400Åis provided. In addition, the laminated material is provided with a heat sealable resin layer 5 on the coating layer 3 of this barrier material 1.
