Process for the treatment of a fluid contng living spermatic cells, so that at least a major proportion of the sperms giving rise to one of the sexes is rendered incapable of fertilising the ovules, by treatment, of the sperm contg. fluid with at least one agent carrying electrostatic charges which preferentially attract the sperms corresponding to one of the sexes. The electrostatic charge carrying agent is selected from polyacrylic acid or its alkali salts, vinylidene chloride-acrylic acid copolymer, a polyimine polymer or copolymer partic. a polyethyleneimine, an opt. sulphonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer and a poly-N-vinyl pyrrolidone.
