PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a cooling process in the case of removing carbon dioxide as an impurity from a gas stream by proceeding adsorption using clinoptilolite at a specified range of temp. SOLUTION: Carbon dioxide is removed from a gas stream by passing the gas stream through a bed of clinoptilolite at a range of temp. from -20 to about 80 deg.C. Any other gases but carbon dioxide are firmly absorbed by clinoptilolite and arbitrary gases contg. about 1000 ppm levels of carbon dioxide as impurities are absorbed. Typical gases capable of purifying by the process are air, nitrogen, oxygen, argon, methane, etc. The absorber is, for example, natural clinoptilolite which is cation exchanged by at least one kind of various monovalent ion, bivalent ion or trivalent ion selected from groups IA, IIA or IIIA of the Periodic Table of Elements, an ion of lanthanide series, chromium (III), iron (III), zinc (II) or copper (II).
|
