PHENOLIC RESIN MOLDING MATERIAL AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a phenolic resin molding material reclaimed so as to be cross-linked and cured again by grinding a cured product of a thermosetting material especially wastes and solubilizing the product of grinding by reaction with a specified chemical. CONSTITUTION: This phenolic resin molding material is prepared by at least partially solubilizing particles of a cured product of a thermosetting resin in the presence of a phenol. This material can be obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. (in terms of the resin component) particles of a cured product of a thermosetting resin with 10-90 pts.wt. phenol and optionally an acid catalyst, and at least partially solubilizing the particles by reaction under heating. Examples of the cured products of the thermosetting resins include a cured phenolic resin and a cured epoxy resin. It is particularly desirable that the chemical used is phenol. It is desirable the size of the particles of the thermosetting resin is 30 mesh or smaller. If necessary, the acid catalyst is used in an amount of 9 pts.wt. or below per 100 pts.wt. particles of the resin.
