PURPOSE: To obtain a high-strength calcining utensil material with the pore diameter range decreased, without the pore being clogged, with the macropores reduced, having many desired pores in a small diameter range and consequently capable of excellently absorbing the binder and needless ceramic component generated when the material is calcined. CONSTITUTION: The ceramic grains consisting of plural grain size distributions are bound together to obtain the calcining utensil material. When the ceramic grains are successively classified so that the maximum grain diameter in the range divided by Root 2 is the maximum grain diameter in the succeeding range, >=90vol.% of all the grains are included in the grain diameter range of the 3 to 15-section grain size distributions continued from the maximum grain diameter range, and the volume ratio of the grains included in the two adjacent grain diameter ranges, i.e., the volume of the larger grain divided by the volume of the smaller grain, is controlled to 0.5-1.8. |
