PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing a nonwoven fabric entangled with water jet, having minimized entangling unevenness, suppressed wrinkles and bumps caused by the strain in entangling and improved uniformity in the longitudinal and lateral directions. CONSTITUTION: The nonwoven fabric entangled by water jet is produced by treating both surfaces of a web containing short fibers and placed on a porous supporting member with water jet once or more to effect the three-dimensional entangling of short fibers constituting the web. In the above process, a process to stretch the web by 1-20% is carried out once or more before applying the water jet to the reverse-side of the web having the front face entangled by the water jet. |
