PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a blood preparation obtained by removing a virus inactivating solvent and/or a certain detergent and/or a phorbol ester from a biological material while avoiding the use of an environmentally and physiologically hazardous reagent. SOLUTION: This blood preparation has an extent of inactivation of virus greater than 4 logs for the virus, has at least 45% retention of functional activity for particular biologically active blood protein, and further has no more than physiologically acceptable levels of lipid soluble process chemicals. The blood preparation is selected from a group of plasma and serum.
