发明名称 MUSSEL ADHESIVE PROTEIN GENE
摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a new gene coding for a mussel adhesive protein having a specific amino acid sequence and giving a protein useful e.g. for an adhesive exhibiting strong adhesive force, keeping the adhesive strength even in a wet environment and developing strong adhesive strength even in water. CONSTITUTION: This new mussel adhesive protein gene codes for a mussel adhesive protein having the amino acid sequence expressed by the formula or an amino acid sequence the same as the amino acid sequence expressed by the formula and is expected to be useful in a wide application range as a raw material for adhesives developing effective adhesive strength even by starting the bonding work under moist condition or in water. The gene can be produced by extracting an mRNA from the foot of a mussel by conventional method, preparing a mussel foot cDNA library from the cDNA by conventional method, screening the library by using a part of a Tyrrhenian mussel adhesive protein cDNA as a probe and recovering the DNA from the clone containing the mussel adhesive protein gene.
