PURPOSE: To provide a converter, in which the worn profile of lined refractory of converter body is uniformized and the unit consumption of the refractory can be reduced without wastefulness after using, and an operational method for the converter in such a way. CONSTITUTION: The working surface side 6a of the side wall part 6 of the converter 1 is constituted of a magnesia and carbon-based high grade refractory containing fused magnesia. Further, this back surface side 6b is constituted of a low grade refractory without containing the fused magnesia. Then, the converter having such a structure is used and in the first half of one campaign of the converter the decarburizing refining of molten iron is executed and in the latter half of one campaign of the converter the dephosphorizing refining of the molten iron is executed. |
