PRESERVATION OF FOOD AND FOOD-PRESERVING MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To obtain a food-preserving material capable of preserving the freshness and quality of a food for the longest period by wrapping a cold-storing material with a wrapping film having a mustard extract layer and subsequently freezing the wrapped cold-storing member. CONSTITUTION: A cold-storing member 1 is wrapped with a wrapping film 2 having a mustard extract layer 3 to produce a food-preserving material A. The wrapped cold-storing member is frozen and received in a container together with a food to be preserved. An antimicrobial gas produced by the condensation of dew drops on the food-preserving material due to its cold preservation enables to hold the freshness of the food.
