The stamp (1) is displaceable from a rest position against an anvil (3) in a forwarding advanced position. The operating arm (2) is connected with a transmission arm (4) pivotable out of a rest position. The stamp at one end has a slot (5) which is penetrated by a pin (7) in a position remote from the slot base (6). The transmission arm extends between the pin and the slot base into the slot. A support device (12,13) is available which has a U-shaped cross-section for accommodation of a can to be pressed together and at the same time is formed as a support and guide component for the longitudinally displaceable stamp.
