PURPOSE: To provide a tape end detecting mechanism, capable of detecting the end of a tape surely under a condition that there is no remaining amount of tape substantially. CONSTITUTION: In the printing operation of a tape printer, when a part to be detected Ta, arranged near the end terminal Te of a tape T, has arrived at the position of a photo sensor 19 of the printer side, the part Ta is detected by the sensor whereby it is judged that the tape has been ended. At this time, the end terminal Te of the tape is under a condition that the same is just passing the printing position of a thermal head 11. Accordingly, printing under a condition that only an ink ribbon is existing at the printing position can be avoided. Confirmation of the end of the tape through visual confirmation is not necessitated while the final end of the tape can be detected actually when the end has approached to or has arrived at the printing position whereby the actual remaining amount of the tape can be reduced and it becomes economical. |
