PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the smoothness of a diamond surface and to simultaneously polish the surface by preparing a measuring laser for measuring the surface of a hard material, a feedback control unit, an ablating laser and an electo- mechanical means. SOLUTION: The thickness of a portion 206 of a diamond 102 is measured by a profilometer laser 304 and is compared with a recorded value of thickness. When the measured value is evaluated to be larger than a pre-measured value, the ablating laser 302 is electrically operated until a specified time by the feedback control unit 306. The portion 206 is re-measured by the profilometer laser 304 when the ablating operation is finished, the value is re-recorded in the automatic feedback control unit 306 in order to compare it with a pre-recorded value of thickness. When the obtained value is still larger than the pre-recorded value of thickness, the ablating laser 302 is re-operated by the feedback control unit 306. |
