The present invention pertains to a method for the preparation of organosiloxane oligomer with the general formulaR13SiO(R22SiO)nHwhere each R1 and R2 are independently monovalent hydrocarbon groups and n has a value of 1 to 10; wherein the method comprises cohydrolyzing a triorganohalosilane and diorganodihalosilane in the presence of a basic compound in a two-layer liquid system comprised of an aqueous layer and an organic solvent layer. The method of the instant invention is a high-yield method for the preparation of organosiloxane oligomer having the silicon-bonded hydroxyl group at only one molecular chain terminal.
