PURPOSE: To fire and carbonize a thick molded product of a phenolic resin or the like in a short time while maintaining the residual carbon ratio at a high value by subjecting a specific thermosetting resin to heat treatment in the presence of a chemical agent so as to be remoldable. CONSTITUTION: In this production, a phenolic resin obtained by crosslinking/ curing one of phenolic resins in a broad sense, including cresol resins, phenol- furfural resins, resorcinol resins, etc., to a C stage under such conditions that heating for maintaining the resin at 180 deg.C for 30min is uniformized throughout the resin is used in the form of particles each having a <=60mesh particles size. At this time, 100 pts.wt. of this phenolic resin is blended with 10 to 67 pts.wt. of a phenolic compound such as phenol, alkyl phenol, or further, cresols, xylenols or resorcinols and the resultant blend is uniformly mixed by using a hot roller or the like and the mixture is heated to 80 to 200 deg.C to obtain remoldable resin particles. The molding and curing conditions are the same as those under which a virgin resin is molded and a curing catalyst such as hexamine is added. The resultant molded product is calcined at about 1000 deg.C in an inert gas atmosphere. |
