PURPOSE: To sufficiently suppress the peak of damping force while improving the responsiveness of a free valve at compression operation starting time, and also realize the facilitation of the machining of the free valve, and so on, and the reduction of a manufacturing cost and an assembly cost. CONSTITUTION: An inner tube 22 which is slid between an outer tube 21 and a sheet pipe 23 and an oil lock collar 25 which is mounted on the circumferential surface of the lower part of the inner tube 22 and has a flat sheet surface 25a and a taper surface 25b continued to the sheet surface 25a on its end surface. A free valve 26 is placed in such a way that a flat surface is brought in contact with the sheet surface 25a of the oil lock collar 25, and slidably brought in contact with the sheet pipe 23 with a play. A valve holder 28 is mounted on the inner surface of the end part of the inner tube 22, and the free valve 26 is retained by this valve holder 28 together with a return spring 29 which energizes the free valve 26 on a sheet surface 25a side. |
