OPTICAL FREQUENCY REFERENCE GENERATOR

摘要

PURPOSE: To generate light utilizable as a secondary frequency reference standard of high frequency stability and set likelihood over a wide relative frequency range by subjecting frequency standard signal which is a primary frequency reference standard to frequency shift. CONSTITUTION: An optical ring circuit is composed by connecting an optical amplifier 4, an optical delay element 6, an optical frequency shifter 7 and an optical switch 8 to an annular form. This device shifts the frequency by repetitively and cyclically supplying pulse light in this optical ring circuit. An optical modulator 5 and an optical resonator 9 are inserted into the optical ring circuit. The sum of the modulation frequency of this optical modulator 9 and the frequency shift quantity of the optical frequency shifter 7 is set substantially equal to the resonance peak intervals of the optical resonator 9.
