PURPOSE: To comfortably execute a Japanese syllabary (KANA)/Chinese character (KANJI) converting operation by performing switching from single display, With which successive display from plural converted candidate character strings is performed, to compound display for simultaneously displaying those plural character strings based on set timing. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 21 performs various kinds of control including KANA/KANJI conversion processing or display control processing, a working memory 23 is provided with an area for temporarily storing data during the execution of a program stored in a program memory 22 or a memory for the upper limit number of times of single display, etc., and the number of times of convert key operations is managed by a display switching counter inside the working memory 23. Then, display is performed while switching a single display system for displaying the converted candidates of a KANJI character string corresponding to a KANA character string inputted by a keyboard K one by one and a compound display system for displaying the plural converted candidates, and when the number of times of convert key push-down reaches the set number of times stored in the upper limit single display time memory provided inside the working memory 23, it is defined as timing for switching the single display system to the compound display system. |
