PURPOSE: To change the resolution at the time of a high efficiency in consideration of stability of the print speed and the quality by providing the change timing or the resolution at least twice before form carrying-in and before print start. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 1 checks the write resolution before form carrying and before print start to set the write resolution and writes an image based on this resolution. That is, when preceding paper doesn't exist and the first form is checked, the resolution can be changed because a feed clutch 9 is not turned on. When the resolution change is requested then, the resolution is changed. Meanwhile, when the presence of preceding paper is discriminated, it is discriminated whether the image is written at present or not; and if it is written at present, the processing is terminated because the resolution cannot be changed. If it is not written at present, the resolution can be changed, and a resolution change request flag is set without changing the carrying speed when the change of the carrying speed is not requested. |
