PURPOSE: To perform recording and reproduction with light of wavelength λ1 and to perform reproduction even with light of wavelength λ2. CONSTITUTION: This optical recording medium has a light absorbing layer contg. at least a specified phthalocyanine dye, a light interference layer made of a transparent inorg. material and a light reflecting layer on the transparent substrate. The real number part of the complex index of refraction of the light interference layer to light of wavelength λ1 in the region of 770-830nm is >=1.8 and the imaginary number part is 0.04-0.15. The real number part of the complex index of refraction of the light interference layer to light of wavelength λ2 in the region of 630-690nm is >=1.1 and the imaginary number part is 0.04-0.6. The reflectance of this medium measured through the substrate is >=65% to light of the wavelength λ1 and >=15% to light of the wavelength λ2. |
