PURPOSE: To improve a discharge capacity, a charge/discharge cycle characteristic, and safety by using an amorphous compound, which is obtained by mixing and burning oxide or chalcogenide and silicon dioxide, as a negative electrode material in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: A nonaqueous secondary battery consists of a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode material, a separator, and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing lithium salt. A compound prepared by burning a mixture of composition MZ.pGO is desirable for the negative electrode material. MZ represents at least one kind of oxide of a substance selected from Sn, Ge, Pb, Sb, Bi, while GO represents an amorphous networking structure forming agent containing at least silicon dioxide. The compound prepared by burning contains a non-stoichiometric compound in which a ratio of oxygen is not stoichiometric, a compound with plural number of valence, and a heterogeneous compound. On the other hand, (p) representing a molar ratio between a lithium adsorption/ desorption site and a dispersion medium is set to be 0.33-2 desirably. |
