PURPOSE: To provide a contour extracting and tracking method being suitable for tracking the contour of an animation by enabling an active contour model which tracks the contour to be automatically set. CONSTITUTION: In the picture with plural frames, the initial setting of the active contour model is executed by a first edge extracting step, a first model generating step and a first model connecting step in a process corresponding to the first frame within the plural ones. The active contour model is made to track the contour by the second edge extracting step, a potential picture generating step and a model tracking step in the process corresponding to the respective plural frames after that. Moreover, the active contour model is newly set by a model dividing step, a model eliminating step, the second model generating step and the second model connecting step in the process corresponding to the respective frames. |
