METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGEMENT OF MUSIC

PURPOSE: To provide the method and device for management of music which extracts effectively characteristics of music from video information or music information and applies the characteristics to various applications. CONSTITUTION: A video audio information input section 101 is provided with an A/D conversion section 102 and receives video information and audio information after A/D conversion when the information is an analog signal. The received video information and audio information are subject to waveform processing by a waveform processing section 105 in a music detection section 104 and music is detected from the received information. The position information or the like of the detected music is stored in a position information storage section 106 and music classification information is stored in a classification information storage section 107, in which retrieval or the like is attained. A video/audio information control section 108 is provided with a music block display section 109 to control the video information and audio information such as visual display of the music block. Thus, the management of the video information or the audio information is attained by detecting the music from the input information and controlling the input information based on the characteristics of the detected music.
