PURPOSE: To obtain an optimum recording condition even when recording density at a test write time is different from that at the time of recording real information by using a rising power, falling power, rising pulse width or falling pulse width and deriving the optimum recording condition. CONSTITUTION: By a test recording/reproducing control means 3, an optical disk is driven to test-record the shortest pattern on the test zone 6 of the optical disk 1. At this time, as a test recording condition for deciding the rising power, e.g. seven stages of test recording power from 4mW to 7mW by 0.5mV are set. Then, test recording of sector each of e.g. ten pieces are performed for respective test recording power. An optimum recording condition lead-out means 5 derives the optimum recording condition based on both or either of the rising power Pr and the falling power Pf decided by a rising power/falling power decision means 4. |
