PURPOSE: To set the amount of an electrolyte of the whole cell in a designed value and enhance charge/discharge characteristics by using an electrolyte storing container in which the opening area of an upper opening part is smaller than the opening area of an opening part of a sealed lead-acid battery. CONSTITUTION: An electrode plate group is formed by stacking positive plates, negative plates, and separators, then welding the positive plates and the negative plates separately, and inserted into a container 4. A container cover 7 is welded to the container 4. An opening part 8 for exhausting or electrolyte pouring is previously formed in the container cover 8. Formation of a sealed lead-acid battery is conducted by fitting an electrolyte storing container to the opening part 8 in the upper part of the battery and supplying current. The opening area of the upper opening part of the electrolyte storing container is made smaller than the opening area of the opening part in the upper part of the battery. Variation in evaporating amount of water caused by variation in environmental temperature during formation is extremely decreased, and the electrolyte amount of the whole cell is set in a designed value, therefore, the specified charge/discharge performance can be obtained. |
