PURPOSE: To provide an optical modulator which is capable of decreasing the strains of optical modulation output and is formable to a smaller size without using a bias tee. CONSTITUTION: This optical modulator has an LN modulator 2 which modulates the light entering from a light source 1 by a modulation signal inputted from the other and has a terminal 2d for terminating this modulation signal, an amplifier 10 which amplifies the modulation signal to a level to allow the driving of the LN modulator 2, outputs the modulation signal to this LN modulator 2 and is set in the bias of the FET 5N of the output stage by the DC voltage y and DC voltage (z) supplied from outside and a bias control circuit 12 which is supplied with the DC voltage (y) and DC voltage (z) and supplies the DC operating voltage for setting the modulation operation point of the LN modulator 2 via a terminal resistor 11 to the terminal 2d. |
