PURPOSE: To obtain an image forming method for excellently attaining the reproducibility of an image at a half tone part by writing the image oh an electrostatic latent image carrier by an optical writing method in which area gradation is set to be main and forming the electrostatic latent image. CONSTITUTION: The image is written on the electrostatic latent image carrier so as to form the electrostatic latent image by the optical writing method in which the area gradation is set to be main. A PWM system (b) is used as the optical writing method in which the area gradation is set to be main. In the PWM system (b), adhesive area in a horizontal axis direction is changed without changing toner adhesive amount in the case of obtaining the same image density as in a PM system (a). Since high developing potential(VL-VB) is obtained at the half tone part and the adhesive force of toner to a photoreceptor becomes strong in this system, toner amount scraped by a developing magnetic brush is made small even in the case there is a speed difference between the photoreceptor and a developing part in a method for developing the image by coming in contact with the photoreceptor, whereby a phenomenon that a rear end is thin, which occurs at the half tone part, is restrained. |
