PURPOSE: To obtain an optical recording medium and its reproducing method which realizes a superhigh resolution mechanism with a simple structure. CONSTITUTION: This optical recording medium is produced by forming a silicon nitride base layer 2 of 80nm thickness on a disk substrate 1 and further successively forming a TbFeCo recording layer 3, silicon nitride interference layer 4 and aluminum reflecting layer 5 thereon. The substrate 1 is, for example, a disk type substrate and consists of polycarbonate as a plastic material containing dispersion of a copper phthalocyanine complex as a phthalocyanine deriv. Guide grooves 6 are formed on the substrate 1. In the center and near the center of the beam spot of laser light where the intensity is high, an excited state of the copper phthalocyanine complex is caused by the light in the substrate 1 so that strong absorption by the ground state decreases to increase the transmittance. On the other hand, in the peripheral part of the beam spot of laser light where the intensity is low, the ground state causes strong absorption to decrease the transmittance of the, substrate 1. |
