PURPOSE: To provide a rare earth permanent magnet excellent in magnetic characteristics by obtaining fine powder having a good powder distribution by producing rough powder excellent in crushability. CONSTITUTION: A method for fabricating a rare earth permanent magnet comprises steps of quench-forging molten alloy comprising R (where R is one or two kinds of rare earth elements containing Y), Fe and B into a thin plate having a thickness of 1mm or less by means of strip-casting, thermally treating the thin plate in an inert gas atmosphere or a substantially vacuum over a temperature range of 800 to 1000 deg.C inclusive, then roughly crushing, molding in a magnetic field, sintering and thermally treating. |
