PURPOSE: To facilitate the selection and change of character type when using the fonts of plural character types for one piece of document data to be outputted. CONSTITUTION: The character type is defined to a font managing data base 12 for each code set such as ASCII code or Chinese character JIS code, for example. Besides, plural groups having the different correspondence relations of code sets and character types are prepared. When any one of groups is selected at a use font input part 13, the character types corresponding to the respective code sets are decided at a data preparing part 17 for display. The character types of respective character codes are decided based on the code sets of respective character codes in a document read from a document data storage part 14. Next, the font is read from a font storage part 11 through a font access part 15 based on the respective character codes and their character types. Then, the read font is displayed on a data display part 16. |
