TIME-SHARING RADAR SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To provide a radar system which has' high detection accuracy and wide bearing detecting range with a limited number of beam radiating means. CONSTITUTION: A time-sharing radar system is provided with a plurality of beam transmitting-receiving means 10a-10d which are arranged so that the means 10a-10d can radiate beams in nearly the same radiation pattern in spatially and partially overlapping states and receive the reflected waves of the beams, FM signal generating section 20 which generates variable-frequency FM signals of a nearly fixed level, and transmitting section 30 which distributes the FM signals generated from the section 20 to the means 10a-10d so that the means 10a-10d can transmit the FM signals at different timing. The system is also provided with a receiving section 40 which generates the levels of reflected waves received by means of the means 10a-10d so that the levels can be discriminated with respect to the beam transmitting-receiving means which transmit or receive the beams and a bearing detecting means 50 for detecting the bearing of the object which reflects the beams based on the level detecting signal from the section 40 and the arrangement of the means 10a-10d.
